Kay Scodelario’s character Laura Harrison is fictional
Chronology
A fictional miniseries based on Ayrton Senna da Silva, a Brazilian racing legend who won the Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship three times. She is based on journalists who covered Ayrton Senna’s career. In addition, Scodelario’s family is Brazilian from Senna’s native SΓ£o Paulo. She is also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese. Senna’s early career races in England are shown at a racetrack next to a mountain range. There are no mountains in England – especially Norfolk, which is famous for its flat landscape.
It is boring and superficial
It is quite clear that the Senna – Da Silva family had their own hand, and a very strict one at that. Senna is described as a saint. He is always kind and nice and tolerates everything that is done to him. There are no conflicts, except with Prost and Balestre. The dialogue is so incredibly flat, any daily soap is literature. I want to be first.
He’s the best
I’m the fastest. I want to win. But it’s dangerous! But I want to win. But you’ve already won. But I want to win again.
Didn’t he have vices?
What about Senna’s women’s stories? It would have had potential. Such people don’t exist. But when his mother is involved in writing the script … His parents also come across as saints. Always understanding, always patient, kind, tolerant and noble.
Yes, of course
The action shots are brilliant though. Not exactly revolutionary, but very impressive. The sound design in particular was stunning.
