Chronology
A Montana ranching family faces off against those who are encroaching on their land. Forrie J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and reverts to his usual SoCal voice.

This series has been on the air since 2018, but I just watched it for the first time. I finished the first episode of the first season last night, which is almost 90 minutes long. As for the Dutton family, we see that they have a strong influence in their valley, but they are fighting back against “invasions.” One is a developer who wants to build a condominium.
The other is from the neighboring Native reservation, which is trying to reclaim some of its land, as well as its livestock
To cope with all this, and the sheer size of the ranch, Dutton (played authentically by Kevin Costner in his sixties) also has several grown cowboy sons and a helicopter with a dedicated pilot. I watched the first episode of Season 1 (streamed on Peacock) to get a feel for the Dutton family, as I’m currently binge-watching all ten episodes of Taylor Sheridan’s new show, “1883,” which is a prequel in a way. (Fictionally) It was in 1883 that the Dutton family from Tennessee joined a larger group to drive a wagon train from Fort Worth, Texas “somewhere west.” They had to stop when they got to Montana.
With sons born in 1875, 1900, around 1925, and in the 1950s, “Yellowstone” is a very good series, the actors are all top-notch, and the cinematography and sound are excellent
Again, this is fiction, but given the ages of the men and the fact that Costner was born in 1955, he would probably be the great-grandson of the Dutton patriarch (played by Tim McGraw) in 1883. . For example.
Now that I’m 70, I’d rather spend my time watching “enjoyable” stories
It’s just not the kind of show I can get invested in and keep watching. It’s hard to find characters with redeeming qualities, and I don’t really like shows that focus on constant arguments and fights, and often murder, in the long run. NB – “1883” is a very good and interesting series that authentically depicts the great difficulty of breaking away from one’s roots and traveling through unknown territories to find a new life in a new place.
